In today’s newsletter: A Kickstarter campaign smashes its goal, we discuss Samsung’s new game streaming service, Warhammer 40k: Warpforge reveals its core mechanics, and we find 4 great game sales.
🎮 Top Story: Samsung reportedly brings its game streaming service out of beta this week
Later today, Samsung is expected to launch a mobile game streaming service that lets you play games without downloading them. But is anyone actually interested?
According to Samsung’s Jong Hyuk Woo, “90% of the people who have expressed interest in a game publisher’s content, via an ad, don’t actually ever get into the game.”. And now, Samsung is betting that streaming can help solve that.
Having tried the “Google Play Instant” streaming service, I’m somewhat skeptical that there’s enough demand for a product like this.
But the one advantage Samsung has is that its service will launch via its existing game launcher, which is used by 150 million monthly active users worldwide.
So who knows… Maybe Samsung will crack the code. Hit “Reply” to this email and let us know what you think?
