Did Samsung Just Launch a Free Cloud Gaming Platform?🧐
In today's newsletter: A Palworld clone is shutting down due to copyright issues, popular horror fishing game Dredge gets a mobile release date, and yet another investigation of Apple and Google might be on its way...
🎮 Samsung has launched its free mobile cloud gaming platform out of beta in North America
Samsung just launched a cloud gaming platform in North America that is 100% free.
But unlike efforts like Xbox Cloud Gaming which lets you play PC/Console games on your phone, Samsung’s platform only features existing mobile games.
So what’s the point then? According to the official announcement, it seems Samsung is trying to make it faster to start playing the new games you discover. Instead of waiting for downloads and updates, you just click play.
Sounds nice. But I still wonder if there’s an actual market for this service. From an advertiser’s perspective, it makes sense to get your new players into your game faster, but do players really care? I’m not so sure.
