🎮 Pokémon GO Has Been Sold to Scopely for $3.5B!

After 9 years as one of the most popular mobile games, Pokémon GO has now been sold to MONOPOLY GO creator Scopely for $3.5 billion. In fact, all of Pokémon GO creator Niantic’s gaming division has been sold, including Monster Hunter GO and Pikmin Bloom.

Back when Pokémon GO launched in 2016, it became the fastest mobile game to earn $100 million, and it’s still going surprisingly strong in 2025.

But Niantic has had difficulty replicating that success, with games like Harry Potter: Wizards Unite never taking off. And as a consequence thereof, it’s now selling its entire gaming division (except Ingress Prime) to instead focus on “geospatial technology”.
