🎮 Is “GTA-like” the new hot genre of 2025?

While several GTA games have been available on mobile for years, an influx of new titles looking to jump on “open-world sandbox game in a modern city” trend are currently in development, including:

• Gangstar New York (Gameloft’s take on the genre - gameplay)

• NEWRP (looks to be a faithful GTA-like - see gameplay)

• Project MUGEN (GTA if it was set in an Anime world - trailer)

• Grand Outlaws (a cross-platform title, soft-launched in the US - trailer)

With GTA 5 earning almost $10 billion throughout its lifetime, it’s no surprise that many studios are eager to release “the GTA for mobile” - and it seems like we’ll get a lot of them in 2025.

Undoubtedly, they’ll all be free-to-play titles, but hopefully, a few of them will provide an actual great experience without delving too far into the pay-to-win territory.
