🎮 Top Story: Google VS Epic Court Decision Could Change Android Games Forever

In the ongoing battle for dominance of the mobile app store market, Fortnite maker Epic finally got a huge win in their lawsuit against Google.

Put simply, a US court has ruled that Google holds an unfair monopoly in the Android app market. This is a huge deal, as it could potentially force Google to allow users to choose alternative payment options, which would allow game developers to avoid paying 30% to Google for every purchase.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg because the lawsuit could also make alternative app stores more viable. This could ultimately lead to better games discovery experiences for users, or force Apple and Google to invest more in creating better experiences on their stores.

We’ll know more in January 2024, when a US judge decides how to enforce the court decision.

Are things going to change overnight? No. But this could very well be the beginning of a massive change for the mobile gaming ecosystem.
