🎮 Top Story: Google Play Ordered to Allow Third-Party App Stores
In a punch so hard I could hear it all the way here in Denmark, a US court just ruled that Google must allow third-party app stores to be downloaded directly via Google Play.
Yes, it’s Epic who sued them. And this time, they won! As reported by GamingonPhone, Google is also banned from giving developers incentives to launch apps exclusively on Google Play. Both these changes will last until November 2027.
The bigger question, however, is how this might affect the ongoing legal battles against Apple in the US and Europe.
I predict that both Google and Apple will soon be forced to allow third-party app stores globally.
So the giants are slowly losing their tight grip - but will it benefit us gamers? I absolutely think so! Because to attract users, the new stores are likely to give out free games. I’ll keep you updated when that happens :)
