🎮 Top Story: Angry Birds-maker Rovio’s Profit Down 22% After Selling to Sega for $775m
While Angry Birds released way back in 2009, it remains one of the most well-known brands in mobile gaming. And earlier this year, Sega even decided to buy the Angry Birds-maker Rovio for $775m.
But what exactly were their plans? New Streets of Rage titles on mobile? Several new Sonic the Hedgehog games? Nobody knew.
Unfortunately, according to Rovio’s just-released Q3 financials, things aren’t looking so great in Angry Birds-land. In fact, their profit dropped 22% (to ~7.1m), while overall revenue fell 5.6%.
Only time will tell if Sega can turn things around, but they definitely have an uphill battle ahead of them - and maybe not even Sonic can save them this time.
