So... Gacha is Ruining Japanese Gamers?🧐

🎮 1 in 5 young Japanese gamers struggle financially due to gacha spending

As reported by GamingonPhone, a new survey among 20-29-year-old Japanese players has revealed that 18.8% of players spend so much on gacha games that they can’t cover their living costs. Wait, what?

In addition:

• 23.9% regretted spending money on in-game items

• 20.8% said they couldn’t enjoy games without spending money

While this survey doesn’t represent all Japanese players, it’s still incredibly concerning. I have always said that a good free game is one where you don’t have to spend to still enjoy it. But what if you personally feel you can’t enjoy it without spending?

Overspending is a global issue, not confined to gaming, so it’s not as simple as saying “gacha = bad”. But if you have become addicted to the game you’re playing, that definitely makes it harder not to spend more than you actually want.
