How Mobile BEAT PC Esports 😮
In today’s newsletter: Upcoming Battle Royale title Indus announces first-ever eSports tournament, we find 6 great games on sale, Battle Crush enters early access, and Dead Cells hits 5 million copies sold in mainland China.
Good morning/evening/afternoon, and thanks for supporting The Mobile Quest. You rock! :)
In today’s newsletter: Indus announces first-ever esports tournament, we find 6 great games that are on sale, Battle Crush enters early access, and Dead Cells hits 5 million copies sold in mainland China.
Dota, Fortnite, and Counter-Strike. That’s what most people think about when they hear “eSports”.
But last year, 2 of the top 3 eSports were mobile games - PUBG Mobile and Arena of Valor. And based on peak viewership numbers, Mobile Legends, Free Fire, PUBG Mobile, and Arena of Valor were all in the top 10.
So why aren't mobile eSports more talked about?
In large part, I think it's because there are very few mobile eSports games. Yes, the biggest games are huge, but when you look at the top 50 eSports games, only 12 of them are mobile titles.
So if you don't enjoy those 12 games, there's nothing for you to watch or participate in. So for mobile eSports to truly break through, we need more games with competitive tournaments.
Thankfully, more mobile eSports are popping up each year. And one of the newest is the upcoming battle royale "Indus", which has now reached 7 million pre-registrations and just announced its first small eSports tournament.
