As reported by Reuters, gaming giant Tencent seems to be working on a mobile version of the critically acclaimed PC and Console open-world RPG, Elden Ring.

Tencent reportedly acquired the licensing rights for Elden Ring in 2022 and has been working on a prototype of a mobile version. Unfortunately, rumor has it that it will be a remake with in-app purchases instead of a port of the original game.

In recent years, we’ve seen a surge in quality PC games being directly ported to mobile. But most PC games that instead get remade for mobile audiences seem to fail, and Elden Ring might suffer the same fate.

I’m sure you and I both prefer ports over “cashcow” versions of popular PC games. But the question is if the mainstream mobile audience agree?
