In today's newsletter: Several large games are closing down, some amazing games are on sale, updates from Warframe Mobile, EA has a big announcement for The Sims fans, and we review a new Dune game!

🎮 Big Mobile Games are Shutting Down 😤

Mobile games shutting down if they don’t earn enough money is nothing new. But in the last week alone, three big games have said goodbye to their millions of fans.

  • Harry Potter: Magic Awakened closes down everywhere except Asia on October 29th.

  • Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will stop working on November 28th (although an offline version is in the works).

  • Blue Protocol shuts down in Japan on January 18th, canceling the planned global launch.

Some of the many games constantly closing down would probably have survived in the hands of studios not run by money-hungry shareholders. But in the world of AAA mobile gaming, any game not earning $100m+ is a failure.

And that’s exactly why supporting smaller but ambitious teams and amazing indie developers is important. Here’s a long list of them.
