Apple's Assassin's Creed Flop 👀

🎮 The iPhone’s Assassin’s Creed, Resident Evil, and Death Stranding Ports Completely Flopped

Several AAA games have been ported exclusively to iOS throughout the past year, including Resident Evil 4, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and Death Stranding.

These are ports of the full critically acclaimed PC and Console games, but apparently, nobody is buying them?

According to calculations from Mobilegamer.biz, fewer than 3,000 people have bought Mirage on iOS, generating ~$138k in revenue. In comparison, the mobile-first game Assassin’s Creed Rebellion made $981k in the same period.

But why do these games flop? I think it’s partly because they can only be played on flagship iPhones, and partly because the $49.99 price tag is much higher than what most mobile gamers are used to paying for premium games.

So is there even a future for ports? Absolutely! In the past few years, lots of amazing high-quality indie PC games have arrived on mobile, and that trend doesn’t seem to be slowing down. The AAA studios just need to catch up ;)
