Apple lost... so what now, Epic?š
PLUS: A few great mobile board games go on sale, Fornite is coming to iOS, two new controllers are launching, and Apple appeals Epic ruling... drama!

š® Apple takes a big hit in Epic lawsuit, so what now?
āreplete with misdirection and outright lies.ā
āApple willfully chose not to comply with this Courtās Injunction.ā
Those are not ways you want a US judge to describe your company. Yet, thatās exactly the situation Apple finds itself in this week during its ongoing lawsuit with Epic Games.
In short, US Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers has sided with Epic, forcing Apple to start allowing mobile game developers to accept payments outside of the App Store without paying a 27-30% cut to Apple.
This is big news for mobile game and app developers alike, with companies like Spotify immediately updating their app to let users pay outside of the Apple ecosystem.
The last big ābossā in this battle of the app stores would be if Apple and Google were forced to allow third-party app stores like in the EU. And a new bill introduced this Tuesday would actually do exactly that.
To me, it seems clear that itās only a matter of time before Google and Appleās app store control will start to fall. So now the question is how (if at all) it will benefit us players?
