šŸŽ® Amazon shuts down its App Store

As reported by GamingonPhone, Amazon is officially shutting down its Android app store by August 20th, 2025. While the store never truly became mainstream, it launched in 2011, making it one of the oldest third-party app stores.

In the early days, the store often gave away free apps - not unlike what Epic Games is doing these days - but it just wasnā€™t enough to change peopleā€™s preferences. So now itā€™s shutting down everywhere except on the Amazon Fire TV and Fire tablets.

Honestly, I think Amazon just entered the market too early. Now that Google and Apple are being forced to open up their app store ecosystems, and Epic Games and other third-party stores are ready to run, it seems Amazon has lost all energy.

So bye-bye, and thanks for all the fish.
